Dr. Abdelhamid Ahmed is an assistant professor at the English Language Teaching (ELT) at Helwan Faculty of Education, Cairo, Egypt. EFL/ESL essay writing is his area of expertise. In addition, he obtained his PhD from Graduate School of Education, University of Exeter, the UK. His PhD thesis investigated the EFL essay writing difficulties of student teachers of English. He has extensive knowledge of and experience in the quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research. He has a rich teaching experience in a number of courses at the university level, including EFL/ESL Essay Writing, English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes, Methods of Research, Teaching Skills, Methods of English Language Teaching, Computer-Assisted Language Instruction, Curriculum Studies and Micro-Teaching. He taught at Helwan University and Cairo University in Egypt. He also taught at Exeter University and Birmingham University in the UK. He is a teacher-trainer of EFL in-service teachers all over Egypt via video-conferencing. He has been supervising student-teachers of English for many years. Moreover, he presented his research papers about EFL essay writing at international conferences in England, USA and Canada.
