I grew up in Frankfurt, Germany. In my family as well as in school, I learned standard german, as opposed to the local dialect. After graduating from high school, I took a year off and went volunteering and travelling in south-eastern Africa. The travelling inspired me to become active in conservation, which is why I started to study geography at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Currently, I am studying abroad for one year at Queen's University, ON, Canada. Travelling has become more than a nice-to-do thing, it is now my lifestyle and philosophy. During summer breaks, I try to explore and appreciate our wonderful planet ever more.

I have come into contact with various different english-spaking cultures and become more sensitive to their differences. However, I have also started to reinvent my love for my mother tongue. I started listening to german poetry and old folk music, which gave me a whole new perspective on the beauty of the language.

Besides that, I like the outdoors, music and dance. I am most happy when I go hiking and am outside, preferably with a campfire, my guitar and some good friends.
