I was born and raised in a traditional Mexican home in Cuernavaca, México. I grew up in a big family with two brothers and five sisters.
While attending university, I was teaching Spanish at a language school where I met my husband, a commercial fisherman from Vancouver. After living in Cuernavaca for two years, we moved to Richmond, British Columbia.
It has always been a priority for me that my children speak Spanish and know about their Mexican heritage. For this reason, we returned to México and spent summers there. My children were able to get to know their grandparents and my family, speak the language and learn our Mexican traditions and our love of food.
I have been teaching Spanish, mostly to adults, since 1997 for the Richmond Continuing Education Program. I also teach private lessons to a variety of students ranging from elementary school aged children to advanced Spanish speaking professionals. I have translated marriage certificate papers, medical documents and other legal documents from English to Spanish and vice versa. I have completed my BC Provincial Instructor Program from Vancouver Community College.
I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to communicate in another language (my English was very limited when I moved to Canada), so I like to help people with Spanish every time I get an opportunity. I am very excited to be part of the Verbalizeit Spanish team.
