My name is José Luis González Pereda. I am 60 years old, and originally from Cuba where I was a Chemistry Professor.
I received my High School Diploma from Cuba, and studied Chemistry in Havana University.
In 1989, I came to the United States, and had to start again because the US did not accept credits from Cuba. Therefore, I enrolled in M.A.T.C. –Milwaukee Area Technical College - in Wisconsin, and received the HSED, High School Equivalency Diploma (higher than the GED). Later, I continue studying Liberal Arts in MATC.
In the United States, I have been teaching Spanish for 18 years, and ESL (English as a Second Language) for 9 years. This includes 3 years of teaching in Junior High for the Public School system. Currently, I teach Conversational Spanish in the evening for Adult Education at a technical College in Oklahoma, Indian Capital Technology Center (ICTC) Muskogee Campus. I wrote my own curriculum for Conversational Spanish which includes 4 levels. In addition, I wrote a program for Spanish for Healthcare Personnel which includes 3 levels, and a Spanish for Educators Program. I wrote the Text-Work books for all of my courses, my Conversational Spanish and ESL courses. My books have been used in ICTC for their curriculum.
Concerning my conversational skills, I am 100% bilingual in Spanish and English. I teach Spanish to Americans, and English to Hispanics which requires good communication skills in both languages. My vocabulary has also been improved by means of other studies such as Acupressure, Reflexology, Auriculo-therapy, Biblical Healing, etc.
Also, I have occasionally acted as interpreter for ICTC administration, attorneys, and in court.
