I was born in Co. Kilkenny in Ireland, and from there went from strength to strength until graduating from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick in 2009 with a first class honours degree in the Liberal Arts. In 2011, I completed a Masters thesis on Irish lexicography. I have worked as an Irish tutor in the University of Limerick, served as visiting Irish Language Scholar at Concordia University in Montréal, and am currently pursuing a Phd in Irish language dialectology. My research interests include lexicography, dialectology, and translation studies. I have been working in translation part-time for the past seven years. I worked in the Irish language terminology committee on a work placement which lasted one year, and after my undergraduate degree, I began working for Macalla Teo. who employed me as a script translator; cartoons from English to Irish for national TV. I have had various other freelance projects come my way. I very much enjoy learning languages, and I read, write, and speak five languages fluently: English, Irish, French, Italian, and Scottish Gaelic. I have a reasonable level of German, and am learning very gradually Turkish, Welsh, Romanian, and Manx Gaelic.
